Farewell Harbour Lodge | Whale Watching & Grizzly Bear Viewing

Day 1 Vancouver to Farewell Harbour | Flight + Boat Fly from Vancouver to Port Hardy and transfer to Alder Bay where you will join the high speed water taxi for a scenic 25-minute service to Farewell Harbour. The lodge staff will greet you at the dock, help you to check in and provide a welcome orientation and appetizers. Relax, you’re here! After settling into accommodations, join an afternoon tour in search of marine wildlife in the waters of the famous Johnstone Strait and Robson Bight Ecological Reserve.

Day 2 Farewell Harbour Lodge | Wildlife Viewing After breakfast, meet on the dock at 8am for a full-day bear viewing adventure to one of the main grizzly viewing estuaries! You'll head out to one of several estuaries to view the bears either from a zodiac or on foot depending on the tide. Farewell Harbour Lodge doesn't use viewing platforms, as they prefer to view wildlife at eye level in their natural habitat. This evening's presentation is on some aspect of Great Bear Rainforest, Bears or First Nations culture.

Day 3 Farewell Harbour Lodge | Wildlife Viewing Enjoy breakfast this morning, then head out to the water for your choice of another bear viewing safari or a more extensive exploration of the incredibly rich waters of Johnstone Strait and the Robson Bight Ecological Reserve. Orcas typically return to these waters mid July, although Humpbacks and other marine life can often be seen in May and June.

Day 4 - Farewell Harbour Lodge to Vancouver | Boat + Flight Choose how you would like to spend your morning today, either on a short sea kayak excursion in the protected and crystalline waters near the lodge, a marine excursion or guided interpretive rainforest hike. Return to the lodge for the return water taxi back to Alder Bay arriving for ongoing connections. Itineraries starting in Vancouver will end with a flight from Port Hardy to Vancouver.
