Travel Designer

Born and raised in England, Charlene started her travel career 16 years ago booking flights and working as an airline hostess.

Since becoming a Canada & Alaska travel specialist in 2014, she has experienced many of the wonderful delights that both Canada & Alaska have to offer.

This includes a winter carnival trip to Quebec City, a fall road trip in the Yukon (the colours were spectacular!) and a combined Road, Rail and Boat trip to Alaska during the summer where she was lucky enough to see the bears of Katmai National Park.

In Spring of 2019, Charlene and her family officially moved to Ontario, now exploring this beautiful and diverse country at every given opportunity.

What is your favorite place in Canada?

The Muskoka region in Ontario, also known as Canada’s Cottage Country, is the perfect year-round vacation spot! Its picturesque lakeside location offer cozy accommodations from cottages to resorts and inns, plus activities such as boating, fishing and tons of water and winter sports. On land you will find lots of trails to explore including the popular Huckleberry Rock Lookout Trail, were you can find rocks over a billion years old!

Tell us about a special discovery that you’ve made in Canada

Dog Sledding at Lake Sacacomie Lodge – If you get the opportunity to lead your very own dog sleigh, I highly recommend this exhilarating winter activity. Alternatively, sit back and take in the wonderful winter woodland sights and let someone else do the hard work for you! Upon your return to the lodge, spend time relaxing in the GEOS Spa, where you can relieve those aching muscles in a mountainside natural hot tub.

What one thing in Canada should you experience at least once in your life

Everyone should experience a stay at a fly-in lake lodge. The entire experience from flying in a floatplane and seeing the incredible aerial views, to landing in the remote wilderness surrounded by wildlife, forests and lakes and realizing that you are miles away from the nearest community – it really is magical! My personal favourite is Inconnu Lodge in the Yukon, which is located 100 miles from Whitehorse and is family owned and operated.
