Day 1 Winnipeg | Arrival
Arrive in Winnipeg and make your own way to your included hotel. The remainder of the day is free to relax, explore the city at your own pace and prepare for your journey north to Churchill the following morning.
Day 2 Winnipeg to Churchill | Churchill Heritage Tour - Part 1
Enjoy breakfast before joining the included group transfer from your designated Winnipeg hotel to the airport for your flight north to Churchill. Upon arrival, meet your Lazy Bear Lodge guide and transfer to the Lodge, your base for the next three nights.
After settling in and enjoying lunch, begin the first part of your Churchill Heritage Tour. Discover the town and surrounding area while learning about Churchill’s northern history, wildlife and distinctive character before returning to Lazy Bear Lodge for the evening. Weather permitting, watch the skies for the possible appearance of the northern lights during your stay. (Breakfast, lunch & dinner are included today.)
Day 3 Churchill | Arctic Crawler™ Tundra Tour & Dog Mushing Experience
Set out aboard an Arctic Crawler™ for your first full day exploring the Churchill Wildlife Management Area, one of the world’s best-known polar bear habitats. Travel across the tundra while watching for polar bears, Arctic foxes, Arctic hares, ptarmigan and other northern wildlife. Lunch and snacks are enjoyed during your time on the tundra, allowing you to make the most of the day’s wildlife-viewing opportunities.
Later, meet an experienced dog musher and a team of enthusiastic northern sled dogs. Learn about the dogs, their training and the traditions of northern mushing before setting out on an exhilarating one-mile ride through the Boreal Forest. Depending on snow conditions, your ride will be by sled or wheeled cart. Return to the warmth and character of Lazy Bear Lodge for the evening, with another opportunity to watch for the northern lights if conditions permit. (Breakfast, lunch & dinner are included today.)
Day 4 Churchill | Arctic Crawler™ Tundra Tour
Return to the Churchill Wildlife Management Area for a second full day aboard an Arctic Crawler™. Explore the tundra and Hudson Bay coastline as your guide searches for polar bears and other Arctic wildlife across this vast northern landscape.
Learn more about polar bear behaviour and the seasonal migration that brings bears toward the Hudson Bay coast as they wait for the winter sea ice to form. Curious bears may occasionally approach the Arctic Crawler™, creating remarkable viewing and photography opportunities from the safety of the vehicle. Lunch, snacks and beverages are provided during the excursion. Return to Lazy Bear Lodge for your final evening in Churchill. Weather permitting, keep watch for one more opportunity to experience the northern lights above the tundra. (Breakfast, lunch & dinner are included today.)
Day 5 Churchill Heritage Tour | Flight to Winnipeg
After breakfast, check out of Lazy Bear Lodge and continue with the second part of your Churchill Heritage Tour. Explore historic sites around the community, including Cape Merry, the exterior of the Polar Bear Holding Facility and the famous Miss Piggy aircraft wreck, while your guide shares stories that reveal Churchill’s colourful northern history. Later today, transfer to Churchill Airport for your flight south to Winnipeg. Upon arrival, make your way to your included Winnipeg hotel for your final overnight. (Breakfast, lunch & dinner are included today.)
Day 6 Winnipeg | Departure
Enjoy breakfast before checking out of your Winnipeg hotel and continuing with your own onward travel arrangements. Your Churchill polar bear adventure comes to an end after six days combining two Arctic Crawler™ tundra journeys, dog mushing, northern history and opportunities to experience the northern lights. (Breakfast is included today.)
